Australia’s own WBA World Champion boxer Danny Green has chosen Yamaha to power his leisure time.

Bringing together two big names from the west, the West Australian boat manufacturer Commodore Marine and the popular boxing identity have begun a new lifestyle partnership together with Danny recently taking delivery of his unique Yamaha-powered offshore boat.

The ‘Green Machine’, as he’s affectionately known, is now the proud owner of a new Commodore Couta 685 Walkaround boat complete with Yamaha F200 outboard. Decorated in Green Machine livery, the new offshore fishing vessel is equipped to take Danny, his family and his friends offshore for any bluewater battle.

Yamaha’s powerful and proven F200 4-stroke was the chosen outboard for the Green Machine to give Danny the reliability, outstanding fuel economy and performance he expects when on the water. Following initial sea trials, Andrew Welch confirms the boxing champion was ‘blown away’ by the Couta 685 describing the boat’s performance as ‘unreal’.

Danny Green became the WBA light heavyweight champion of the world in December 2007 in front of his Perth home crowd to cap the 34 year old’s stellar boxing career. Also present at the fight was the Commodore Marine team along with Danny’s new boat the ‘Green Machine’ parked outside the venue to greet the crowd.

To balance out his intensive training regime and title fight commitments, Danny enjoys fishing and spending time on the water with family and friends.
A favourite son of Western Australia, Danny Green forms an exciting alliance with Commodore Marine and Yamaha is more than happy to be the boxing champion’s choice of outboard.

“We were discussing fishing after dropping our kids off to school and one thing led to another,” explains Commodore Marine Partner Andrew Welch.

“We agreed to a lifestyle sponsorship as Danny has a keen fishing/ocean interest. Commodore will maintain the boat and use it to demonstrate at shows and promotional opportunities for both a boating and sporting perspective.”

When it came time for a specific boat model to be decided, Danny trusted Andrew and the team to choose the most versatile boat for his needs.

“He left it to us and is very excited to get the new Couta 685 Walkaround as it accommodates his on water activities such as fishing with family and friends,” said Andrew Welch.

“Danny is a very active jet skier and goes fishing whenever he can with friends. Due to the closeness of his family network, the Couta will be mainly used for family days out around the islands of the Perth coastline, along with ferrying him to his favourite surf spots. When a better day permits, a secret fishing ‘spot’ 85km offshore will be on his radar.”

Commodore Marine has a history of providing versatile, high quality fishing boats renowned for their open deck space, inherent build strength and long list of standard equipment. Custom fit-out to the clients exacting list is a key feature of the Commodore Marine manufacturing philosophy resulting in a product with a practical layout, superior finish and space for both family and fishing adventures.

Yamaha outboards are available through an Australia-wide network of authorised Yamaha outboard dealers. All Yamaha outboard models are fully backed by a comprehensive two-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Yamaha will extend the warranty to 3 years on 2-Stroke and 4 years on 4-Stroke provided the engine is serviced by an authorised Yamaha dealer.
