If they ever invent a 4x4 RIB the photographers and film crews that covered today's proceedings at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup will be in the market for it. A one-hour postponement saw the wind build from zip to 20 knots and more. With the wind came the sea - short, sharp and steep. Great in a maxi, dreadful in a small motorboat.   more...

Torrential rain all night did nothing to deter the competitors of St Moritz Match Race as they prepared for day two of the sixth event of the World Match Racing Tour. With two flights of Round Robin B left to be completed in the morning session, all six teams still had a chance to qualify directly for the quarterfinals without having to sail in the repecharge. A south-westerly breeze of eight to twelve knots came through and provided for some very close match racing.

Mooloolaba Yacht Club - no club house but still active

Even though the Mooloolaba Yacht Club no longer has a club house to sail from doesn't mean the club is "defunct" as recently reported by some coast media outlets. The Mooloolaba Yacht Club is still active and is still conducting races every Wednesday and Sunday with up to 14 yachts competing with yacht owners now meeting at the public wharf on Parkyn Parade to sign on and pick up crew members.   more...

The second day of racing at the Danish Open saw true champagne sailing conditions with wind ranging between 10 to 20 knots and clear blue skys. Race officials took advantage of the conditions and completed 10 flights in the day’s schedule. With a northerly breeze that made life very difficult for the sailors no match was a done deal right until the end.
