Hawkesbury River Sailing Club
About the Club
The Hawkesbury River Sailing Club (HRSC) based at Brooklyn NSW, was formed some thirty four years ago as a dinghy sailing club encouraging family based participation in the growing sport of club racing.
Today, the Clubs fleet consists mainly of trailerable yachts (or trailer-sailers) and in keeping with its family based origins, our sailing activities, including cruising, racing and on-shore social events, are all conducted with the same family participation in mind.
Cruising activities consist of weekend trips, some with overnight stays, mainly around the Hawkesbury River system including Pittwater and the Brisbane Waters area. Cruising further afield is often undertaken with trips to the Myall Lakes, Port Stephens and Lake Macquarie.
Social events are usually held in conjunction with these cruises to allow “non-sailing” family members and friends to join in the fun.
Racing is conducted over the summer months from September to April in an area of the lower Hawkesbury River just south of Brooklyn. These events consist of 10 heats of “round the buoys racing” with performances being measured using “yardstick/CBH” and a “club handicap system”. This then enables us to run two racing series over the original 10 events.
We welcome all trailer sailors to join us on any of our cruising, racing or social events, enjoy the experience and kinship of club sailing.
