Ocean Racing Club of Victoria
About the Club
The Ocean Racing Club of Victoria was formed as the Cruising Yacht Club of Victoria by a group of yachtsmen in 1949 and renamed in 1973.
The club was formed so that ocean races in Victorian waters could be efficiently developed and run by an organisation focusing specifically on the needs of ocean racers. It functions as a non-profit organisation that draws its membership from all of the major yacht clubs in Victoria, but does not compete with other yacht clubs by operating a clubhouse or marina facility. It employs staff who organise and administer ocean races and it maintains a permanent office in Footscray.
