Thompson 590
Strict ond Design - Sportsboat - Keelboat
About:
The Thompson 590 is a lightweight, high performance sportsboat,
that offers a unique combination of giant killing performance and easy
handling. It has a simple but powerful sail plan with only a large
mainsail for going upwind and an asymmetric spinnaker for downwind
sailing. The gunwales flare out wide either side of the cockpit to
become wings to keep the crew weight well outboard and with the 140kg
bulb keel the boat will always self-right.
The T590 is a good compromise between a racing dinghy and a keel boat, making it safe to sail and yet exhilarating enough to give the thrill!! The deck layout with the spinnaker chute makes the spinnaker hoists and drops very quick and is comfortably sailed with 3 people.
