The Australian Lightweight Sharpie is a six meter, three sailed mono hull sailing dingy. It is crewed by three people - helmsman, sheethand and forward hand on trapeze.
The Australian Sharpie is a class with a proud history competitive history in Australian Waters.
Originally developed from the German 12 Square Metre Sharpie a lightweight version was constructed in 1957. It was from this boat the modern Sharpie was developed.
The controlled development of this one-design class, relatively low cost and ability to sail in a various sailing conditions around Australia has built up a strong following.
