Since before World War II most Australian Youngsters started their sailing in Vaucluse Juniors VJs and progressed to the Senior class of the day, the Vaucluse Senior V.S. opening up the previously exclusive sport of yachting to the masses of Australians.
The VS is essentially a one-design craft of 15 feet (4.6 metres). The class has undergone considerable enhancement since its beginnings.

Today, boats are composite construction from association mould, featuring a clean open cockpit, self tacking jib, carbon spars and masthead asymmetrical Kite.
VS hulls can be professionally or home built using light weight materials and modern technology. Plans are available from the Association designed by leading designer and yachtsman, Iain Murray.
The VS offers high performance racing at reasonable cost.
